The
Wishing
Well
I
passed
a
wishing
well,
Where
pennies
were
being
tossed.
And
as
I
watched
them
carefully,
This
was what
I thought.
If
only
life
were
just
that
simple,
We'd
all
be
at
the
well,
Tossing
money
making
a
wish,
Hoping
for
a
magic
spell.
But
life
is
what
we
make
it,
We
take
the
good
along
with
bad.
If
wishing
would
come
true,
Most
people
would
be
sad.
We'd
be
wishing
for
material
things,
Like
money,
fast
and
fancy
cars.
But
most
the
time
those
worldly
things,
Will
bring
us
mostly
scars.
It's
not
the
biggest
house,
Or
fancy
cars
we
drive.
It's
how
we
cope from day
to
day,
It's how we
live
our
lives.
How worthless
are
so
many
things.
I'm
getting
older
and
now
I
see,
That
most
of
what
I
thought
I
wanted,
Was
really
useless
to
me.
New
clothes
I
soon
out
grow
them,
And
shoes
no
longer
fit
my
feet.
But
still
we're
only
human,
And
these
things
we'll
still
repeat.
