Undelete
from My-TGIF

Yikes !!!
I just deleted 2hrs worth of typing!!!
Ever do that? So have I ...
lucky for us you can undelete.

The Recycle Bin is a special folder in your file system where "deleted" files are sent. In other words, when you delete a file, you don't really delete it, the file is moved to the Recycle Bin. This special folder keeps track of where the file was originally and any information necessary to "Restore" it. I've titled this essay "Undelete" just because I think of it that way, "Restore" is what Windows calls the action, and they both mean the same thing.

On your desktop you should find a Recycle Bin, with a trash can icon, as shown to your left. Place the cursor over this icon, double click your left mouse button and you should get a window like the one shown below, titled Recycle Bin.

To Restore a deleted file, click once on the filename in the Recycle Bin, so that its highlighted, like "Easy Internet Signup" is above. Once your file is highlighted, click on the File menu and select Restore. Windows will then move, or "Undelete/Restore", the file back to its original location.

It can be a real life saver to be able to Undelete/Restore files, but it can also fill up your hard drive. If you're looking for a way to free up some hard drive space, the Recycle Bin is a great place to start.

With the Recycle Bin open, click on the File menu and select Empty Recycle Bin. You'll get a new window asking if your sure you want to delete all the files in the Recycle Bin, answer yes and you'll truly delete the files, free up some hard drive space.... but please be aware you will not be able to Undelete/Restore files once this is done.
