The
Treasured Box
Inside this box you will find
Some things I've
treasured from days gone by
Things that matter most to me
Simple pleasures of
joys that were to be
A simple lock of a child's hair, the first lost tooth
That was placed under a pillow with care
The small hand prints
they made in school
As they were taught the golden rule
A small jump rope, a
penny smashed
A book of rhymes they read in class
Their first report card
marked with S's
A picture of their Kindergarten classes
The note book
they learned to write in
That blue ribbon they got for spelling
The time they wrote you
a letter
Or just a card saying, "I hope you feel
better"
The first dance book
you ever owned
The rose pressed in your diary
For your eyes alone
This treasured box that I behold
Is worth more to me
than silver or gold
The simple pleasures of my life
Those wonderful
memories of days gone by...
