New
York's
Finest
The
towers
stood
majestically,
Against
the
New
York
City
sky.
Below,
the
city
began
to
awake,
As
working
people
rushed
by.
What
began
as
quite
an
ordinary
day
Would
soon
be
a
day
of
despair.
When
jumbo
jets
hit
the
World
Trade
Center
towers,
Spewing
fuel
and
flames
everywhere.

The
alarms
sounded
for
fire
crews,
New
York's
finest
answered
the
call.
They
rushed
to
the
towers
to
get
people
out
Before
the
buildings
could
fall.
Without
a
thought,
they
rushed
right
in
And
began
to
help
people
get
out.
Some
them
guided,
and
some
they
carried,
As
they
traveled
every
route.

Time
after
time,
they
went
back
in,
Putting
their
lives
on
the
line.
Then
tower
number
one
crumbled
and
fell,
Trapping
the
firemen
inside.
Soon
the
remaining
tower
Shuddered
and
crumbled
away,
Leaving
hundreds
of
New
York's
finest
Dead
or
missing
on
that
fateful
day.

The
world
cried
with
America
While
the
firemen
searched,
day
and
night
Trying
to
find
their
fallen
brothers
Who
had
fought
a
valiant
fight.
Atop
the
rubble
they
raised
the
flag,
"Old
Glory",
the
Red,
White
and
Blue,
To
show
their
unity
to
the
world,
And
to
the
fallen
brothers,
be
true.
