My Daughter

As I look into the face of
the young woman who stands
before me, I see a hint of the little
girl that used to be mine.
I remember the first time I saw you.
How my heart sang, she's mine.
I remember your first word,
your first step, and your first doll.
The memory of your constant laughter
without a care, fills my soul.
My daughter, you have touched
many lives. Those lives have been
left with a special spark,
because you are special.
Though all I have are memories
of that little girl, they are mine
and can never be taken away.
So when I look at the young
woman before me,
I say with pride, she's mine.
My Daughter.
With all my Love,
Mother

This is an especially meaningful gift as it was the last
her mother gave her before she passed.
