Missing You

Please clean up your room I said
This place is just a wreck
When's the last time you took a bath
Have you seen your dirty neck

There's cookie crumbled on the floor
And toys from wall to wall
Sometimes I get so tired
I could just sit down and bawl

It seems I work from sun to sun
You kids don't seem to care
Come here and let me try to get
The gum out of your hair

The baby has the colic
And I haven't had much sleep
Will you kids just be quiet
Now not another peep

Stop jumping on the furniture
Even though it's not the best
I'll sure be glad when you're all grown
Then I can get some rest

Now quit arguing and fighting
Give it back to her I said
If you kids don't start behaving
I will send you all to bed

Now twenty some years later
As I sit alone and stare
The silence of this lonely house
Is more than I can bear

The house is clean and tidy
Now I look for things to do
Guess I'll take up a hobby
To keep from missing you

I look forward to the holidays
When my children are all here
And laughter fills the house again
It's music to my ears

And I don't mind the clutter
For I know it won't be long
That this house is like a tomb again
When my children are all gone
